Part I – Scales
All students auditioning for Orchestra should be prepared to play the following two octave major scales by memory: C, G, D, A, F, Bb, Eb – Scales should be memorized and performed in eighth notes at ♩ = 100 beats per minute.
Part II – Prepared Piece
Students should prepare the following piece for their instrument.
Students will be adjudicated on tone quality, intonation, interpretation/musicianship, rhythmic accuracy, and technique.
Part III – Sight-Reading
Students will be asked to sight read an excerpt. Instructors will be listening for rhythmic accuracy, note accuracy, steadiness of tempo, dynamic recognition, and musicianship.
